童子军获得人工智能和网络安全技能的新徽章 - Scouts Earn New Badges in AI and Cybersecurity Skills
Scouting America Introduces Cutting-Edge Merit Badges in AI and Cybersecurity (CNN) — Scouting America, the rebranded organization formerly recognized as the Boy Scouts, has unveiled an innovative opportunity for its members to earn two merit badges centered on contemporary technology: one dedicated to artificial intelligence and another to cybersecurity. With a membership exceeding one million scouts, the organization currently offers an extensive array of merit badges, covering diverse topics that range from fishing to fingerprinting. These badges have long provided scouts with avenues to enhance skills and dive into new realms of knowledge. The introduction of these new badges is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at maintaining relevance in a progressively digital landscape. “Our objective is to curate merit badges that resonate with the interests of today’s youth,” remarked Roger Krone, CEO of Scouting America, in a statement to CNN. These latest badges mark not the organization’s initial venture into artificial intelligence; earlier this summer, it launched an AI chatbot named Scoutly, designed to respond to queries regarding the organization and its merit badges. “Embracing AI is integral to the technological metamorphosis we are all experiencing. To remain pertinent, akin to other contemporary organizations, we are wholeheartedly adopting artificial intelligence—and, indeed, all facets of technology—to enhance our capabilities,” Krone elaborated. The organization noted that the AI badge will prompt scouts to explore the ramifications of AI on everyday life, investigate the implications of deepfakes, and undertake a project that either utilizes AI or elucidates the technology for fellow scouts. Michael Dunn, an officer in the Air Force who collaborated with Scouting America to develop the cybersecurity badge, stated it equips young individuals with vital tools “to protect themselves and their families from the myriad of threats present in today’s world.” ...

Arkto Campers C10 弹出式旅行拖车将起居区和睡眠区置于不同的楼层 - Arkto Campers C10 pop-up travel trail...
Hunting and camping adventures have peculiar demands. While the former stresses space for gear, the latter relies on comfort. If you amalgamate the two, you get a solid build and thoughtful construction of the Arkto Campers C10 overland travel trailer, which is the latest entrant on the scene. Based out of Edmonton, Canada, Arkto Campers. manufactures capable off-road travel trailers, such as the flagship G12 overland trailer, which is an epitome of rugged durability, exceptional comfort, and quality. Arkto Campers, whether it’s with the G12 or the new C10, has stressed zero-wood, all-composite construction for traversing rough terrains without adding drag or unnecessary weight on the tow vehicle. The C10 with its pop-up cabin is therefore a trailer designed light enough to be towed by a variety of vehicles, even on terrains where trucks and off-roading commitment may be necessary. So, what is the C10 all about? Let’s read on. Designer: Arkto Campers Measuring 16.5 feet, the Arkto Campers C10 travel trailer is sized smaller than the original G12. It is spacious enough to accommodate a couple comfortably on their camping adventures within its composite sandwich panel body, solidified structurally with aluminum tubes at critical reinforcement points. The body sits on a hot-dipped galvanized steel chassis, and within features laser-cut and powder-coated aluminum cabinetry. With its integrated interior and external storage, the trailer has an impressive 71 cubic feet of storage volume and 1,850 lbs. of payload capacity, ensuring you never have to compromise with what gear you can carry on your hunting escapade, combined with a fantastic camping adventure. The wonder within the C10 starts on the inside, where the highly functional two-level interior is designed for a couple of adventurers. The lower level is designed for living, while the top section of the pop-up roof is reserved for sleeping. At the ground level is the lounge area/dinette with three cushioned seats and...

从基韦斯特到阿拉斯加:驾驶 1986 款 Isuzu Trooper 穿越大陆。 - From Key West to Alaska: Driving acro...
By DT Carmichael II When we set out to cross the country, we were anything but unprepared. Trip preparation began a year prior to leaving, though it had always been in the works in some capacity. Grant Blackwell and I have known each other since we were in kindergarten at Mountain Brook Elementary and have been planning adventures together since we were in high school. Our early days were spent on campouts with the Boy Scouts and exploring up and down the Cahaba River. When we showed up to Auburn University, we had over 150 nights of camping experience, an array of gear and an insatiable appetite to explore. In college we began to crew sail trips, organize medium-size expeditions and eventually tested our knowledge as a team in South America. In the first week of our senior year, gathering what we knew and what we loved, we began to prepare for a transcontinental road trip. We chose to drive an Isuzu Trooper. This car, known only to a few, has been an obsession of ours since high school. We’ve owned five between the two of us (so far) and have used them to mobilize our adventures for years. And though immediately on board with taking a Trooper, we had never driven one out of the state, and neither one of us had a Trooper that we could confidently rely on to get us across an entire continent. We gathered support from the Trooper community and were able to purchase a 1986 Isuzu Trooper for under $3,000 and $1,000 of spare parts. We overhauled main components during the spring, added accessories such as a roof rack, extra lights and a new stereo. While prepping the car, we pulled together a team that would rendezvous with us in Montana. The plan was that Grant and I would travel for three weeks solo and then meet our support team just south of the Canadian border. We would start at the southernmost tip of the United States and head west. Once the team was assembled, it was me, Grant Blackwell, Colby Blackwell, Parker Balzli, Brett Randolph, our ‘86 Trooper named “The C...

拟议的旧金山肖特韦尔街 824 号<b>ADU</b> - Proposed <b>ADU</b> for 824 Shotwell Street, San F...
New building permits have been filed for a backyard ADU at 824 Shotwell Street in San Francisco’s Mission District. The development invokes a state program to streamline the construction of the detached in-law unit three blocks from Mission Street. Los Angeles-based Bunch Design Inc. is overseeing the project and architecture. Bunch Design Inc. is a small firm specializing in ground-up designed accessory dwelling units. According to the firm’s bio, “we have an interest in making small spaces feel large,” adding that, “we seek lightness in our approach with simple materials.” The ADU will provide 654 square feet of living space, including one bedroom. Minor adjustments will be made to the existing 1916-built two-story home to accommodate a side entrance for future residents. The application process is streamlined through the State’s ADU Grant Program, making construction faster and easier. The narrow lot is located along Shotwell Street between 22nd and 23rd Street, three blocks from Mission Street and close to the 24th Street Mission BART Station. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.

瑞格利维尔 (Wrigleyville) 北威尔顿大道 3641 号新增客车房许可证 - Coach House Permit Joins Addition F...
A second permit has been approved to expand a residential building at 3641 North Wilton Avenue in the Wrigleyville neighborhood. The later permit, issued October 14, allows for the construction of a three-car garage with a second-story Additional Dwelling Unit on the alley at the rear of the property. Showing an application date of September 26, the permission came through with a reported cost of $115,000. On September 15 of this year, a permit was issued that authorized a rear three-story addition to the existing three-unit residence at the front of the lot, at a reported cost of $320,000. That permit included internal renovations, lowering the basement, building new rear decks at the second and third levels, and replacing the existing frame garage with a concrete parking pad. That concrete pad will now hold the new garage and ADU instead of surface parking spaces. Pavlovcik Architecture is the architect of record for both phases of construction. Developer Triton LLC and general contractor Forest City Capital LLC are both registered to the same North Talman Avenue address. Residents of 3641 North Wilton live one block away from the Addison Red Line elevated platform, where Route 152 buses are also available. A three-block walk east to Halsted Street leads to Route 8 buses, with Route 36 one block farther at Broadway. Four blocks to the west are stops for Route 22 on Clark Street.

Eagle Scout 为 Moorpark chabad 打造更美好的未来 - Eagle Scout builds a better future for ...
At just 18 years old, Connor Hules of Simi Valley has joined an elite group of young Americans—one that includes astronauts, senators, CEOs, and even a U.S. president. Connor recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in the Boy Scouts of America program, achieved by fewer than 6% of Scouts nationwide. But it’s not just the badge or the stats that define Connor’s journey. It’s the difference he made for his community along the way. For his Eagle Scout service project, Connor took on a meaningful construction project that will benefit the community for years to come. He designed and built a custom storage shed with a concrete floor and dual access— one entrance leading directly into a Jewish sanctuary and another with a path connecting to an existing patio. The shed was created for the Jewish Center Chabad Ranch in Moorpark, a community space that provides spiritual services and hosts enriching seasonal day camps for children ages 12 and under. Connor’s project required many weekends of hands-on work, supported by fellow Scouts from Simi Valley’s Troop 622, friends and local volunteers. The materials were made possible thanks to generous donations from individuals and local businesses. “I was able to developed new skills by overcoming different challenges,” Connor said. “It showed me how it is to rally a crew and push through chaos to make something for the community. Leading this project taught me that even when times get tough, you can still pull off something great that lasts.” Connor began his Scouting journey in first grade with Cub Scout Pack 3604, continuing on to Troop 622 after earning his Arrow of Light award. Troop 622 is chartered by the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise. His Eagle Court of Honor was held on Oct. 12 at Tierra Rajada Golf Course, where his years of dedication and service were celebrated by family, friends and fellow Scouts. A homeschool graduate of Liberty Christian Academy in Thousand Oaks, Connor is currently taking classes at ...

Kason Burchett 致力于为 Eagle Scout 项目振兴鸟屋公园 - Breckenridge Texan - Kason Burchett w...
Kason Burchett works to revitalize Bird House Park for Eagle Scout Project Breckenridge High School senior Kason Burchett is giving the city’s Birdhouse Park a fresh look as part of his Eagle Scout project, focusing on restoring pathways, repairing birdhouses and improving the park’s appearance for the community. “I figured it was something I feel like most of the community overlooks, and if we can make it look nicer, maybe it might entice more people (to) come,” Burchett said. “If I get it looking nice, there might be people along the road (who) see it’s nice, and… keep it looking nice.” Burchett, a member of local Scouts Troop 63, said he hopes the project will also encourage ongoing community involvement. “We’ve discussed maybe, as a troop, (coming) out here annually… and doing this or whatever,” he said. Birdhouse Park, located at the corner of South Baylor Avenue and East Hullum Street on the banks of Gunsolus Creek, has been a small but scenic spot for people to enjoy nature and watch area birdlife. Most of the birdhouses in the park, which feature a wide array of designs, were built by local residents as part of birdhouse building contests sponsored in past years by the City of Breckenridge Parks Department. Burchett said he wanted to restore its charm and make it more inviting for visitors. His Eagle Scout project involves clearing overgrown brush, restoring a brick pathway, and repairing several aging birdhouses that hold sentimental value to local residents. “There’s a bunch of overgrown brush… I plan on getting all that and the brick path right here,” he said. “You couldn’t see much of it, so we’re planning on weed eating and scraping, hoeing up all the stuff overgrown on the path… and also, there are several birdhouses out here that are falling apart. I plan on fixing them because I don’t want to just tear them down and replace them, because a lot of birdhouses out here have meaning to people. I plan on fixing them and then bringing them back up here and...

规划委员会支持重写阿古拉山 <b>ADU</b> 规则,以符合州法律 - Planning commission backs rewrite of Agoura...
The Agoura Hills Planning Commission voted 5-0 to recommend that the City Council adopt a zoning ordinance amendment to repeal and replace the city's accessory dwelling unit regulations and amend related code sections to conform with state law. Associate City Planner Katrina Garcia told commissioners the rewrite would reconcile the city's ADU ordinance with multiple state changes since the city's 2021 ordinance, most recently Senate Bill 543. Garcia said staff proposes a full repeal-and-replace of section 9.283 of the Agoura Hills Municipal Code and related edits to section 9.120 (definitions) and section 61.005 (short-term rental prohibitions) so staff and the public can apply the code consistently. Garcia outlined the main changes the draft ordinance would implement. The proposal distinguishes state-protected (state-exempt) ADUs from other ADUs. Under the draft, state-protected detached ADUs on single-family lots would be allowed up to 800 square feet of interior livable space with 4-foot side and rear setbacks. Conversions of existing interior space can qualify as a junior ADU (JADU) if 500 square feet or less and must be within the existing structure or attached garage. The city may regulate ADUs that exceed state thresholds (for example, detached ADUs larger than 800 square feet) on matters the state allows: 10-foot separation from the primary dwelling for detached ADUs, architectural compatibility, and front-yard setbacks consistent with zoning. Garcia said height limits would follow state rules: detached ADUs typically 16 feet, but up to 18 feet on single-family lots to match roof pitch and up to 18 feet on multifamily lots when the primary structure is multi-story; attached ADUs may go to 25 feet. Garcia said SB 543, which passed the week before the meeting, changes how ADU floor area is calculated: jurisdictions must measure interior livable space rather than gross floor area, which can alter whether a unit qualifies as a JADU or ADU. The draft ordinance up...
