EC 的 Bustamante 获得 Eagle Scout 排名 - EC's Bustamante achieves Eagle Scout rank
El Campo High School graduate Elijah Bustamante was the subject of a Court of Honor Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Elks Lodge 1749 in recognition of his achieving the Eagle Scout badge on Aug. 8, 2025 in Boy Scout Troop 368. He is the son of Wayne and Casey Bustamante II, both of El Campo. Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program. Since its inception in 1911, only 4% of Scouts have earned this rank. One of the many requirements for an Eagle Scout is to plan, organize, manage and lead an extensive service project. Bustamante's service project targeted the grounds of El Campo's Craig-Harris American Legion Post 251. He and his volunteers rebuild, repaired and repainted the picnic tables. Master of ceremonies, Scoutmaster Ryan Baumann, read the Eagle Charge and Obligation before turning the program over to Lee Drapela, unit commissioner, for the Eagle Pledge. Wayne Bustamante, then pinned the Eagle Scout badge on his son Elijah's uniform. Mom Casey then placed her son's Eagle kerchief and slide around his neck. He then pinned each of them with their respective Eagle parent’s pin. The court was turned over to Chris Barbee, representative of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution Cradle of Texas Chapter No. 33 who presented to Elijah a certificate for his accomplishments. Donnie Roddy, led the invocation before turning the ceremony over to Baumann who closed the Court of Honor and led the Call to the Eagle’s Nest. Eagle Scout Michael Roddy led the Scoutmaster Benediction and retired the flags. Special guests included Elijah’s parents, grandmother Rosario Bustamante and greatgrandmother Margarita Jasso Roddy; Life Scout and Senior Patrol Leader Damien Bustamante and First Class Scout Brayden Kudelka were also special guests.

约旦 UCC 举办年度花圈穿越美国仪式 - Jordan UCC hosts annual Wreaths Across America ceremony
Jordan UCC hosts annual Wreaths Across America ceremony Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall, was one of the many sites across the country celebrating Wreaths Across America, Dec. 13. The program began with a ceremony held in the church sanctuary. The wreaths are placed on the graves of veterans who served the United States, whether in times of peace or war. According to the Wreaths Across America website, “A veteran’s wreath is a symbol of Honor, Respect and Victory.” That mantra was evident as all visitors paid a great deal of respect during the ceremony. John Harting and Ty Kontir read the “Christmas on the Rappahannock,” by Rev. John R. Paxton, D.D. and printed in Harper’s Weekly in 1886. It told the story of Union and Confederate soldiers following the bloody battle of Fredericksburg and how soldiers on each side shared their meager meals and clothing on Christmas Day, 1862. Private Charles Radeline, a Lehigh Valley native, served with Company G, 14th United States Infantry during the Battle of Fredericksburg and was the oldest living Civil War veteran in the Lehigh Valley at his death at 85 in 1930. He is interred in Jordan’s cemetery. Active duty, retired and veteran members of the military presented wreaths honoring each branch of the United States Military including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and Space Force. United States Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, 7th District, addressed the attendees and expressed his support for members of the military and their families.

圣诞篮里装满了善意 - Christmas baskets full of charity
Volunteers recently came together to organize food and toys for the annual Christmas Basket program sponsored by the Delran Knights of Columbus Council 1436. The initiative provides disadvantaged families in the area with a complete holiday dinner, including the trimmings. Volunteers deliver toys and clothing, and financial assistance goes to families and local crisis intervention centers. Preparations for the Christmas Basket program have been underway for months. Knights of Columbus members – along with their families, local churches, civic organizations, schools, Boy Scouts, law enforcement and athletic teams – contribute their time, energy and resources to the effort. The volunteers will distribute and deliver more than 1,000 boxes of food and toys to more than 250 families in surrounding neighborhoods on Friday and Saturday, according to Knights of Coumbus member Richard Keegan. The Christmas Basket program is non-denominational, with recipient eligibility determined solely by need. Its has earned recognition for outstanding philanthropic efforts within Burlington County. Coordinator Tom “Moo” Derrico attributes the success of the program to members and supporters that also include schools, Delran police, area businesses and individual donors.

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Boy Scouts Troop 382 will host a community metal scrap drive on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, offering residents a chance to recycle unwanted items while supporting local scouting activities. The collection will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 207 S. Cherry Avenue. Items accepted this year include aluminum cans, copper, stainless steel, car batteries and old lawn mowers. Aluminum cans should be bagged before drop off. The troop notes that microwaves and dehumidifiers cannot be accepted due to processing limitations. Community members seeking more details can call 715-305-2980.

林肯童子军赋予二手圣诞树第二次生命 - Lincoln Boy Scouts Giving Second Life to Used Christmas Tree...
If your going with a real tree for Christmas this year, Lincoln Boy Scout Troop 8 will help you dispose of it when the holidays are over. Through Troop 8’s free Scouting 4 Trees program, Lincoln residents can leave their unwanted tree on the curb for local scouts to pick up and recycle, giving those trees a second life and preventing them from going to the land fill. Residents can utilize the service as soon as Christmas is over, Dec. 26-28, then Jan. 1, 3-4, and 10. Troop 8 Committee Chair Brooks Rushman KLIN News that scouts have picked up thousands of trees over the program’s 11 years in Lincoln. Similar programs exist in the Greater Omaha and Kearney areas. “You put in your zip code and address and we show up on the day that you pick,” says Rushman. “Most of them go to the City drop-off sites and they get chipped up for mulch that residents use for their landscapes, or for animal beds at the zoo.” Rushman said trees should be stripped of all decorations and placed on the curb by 9 a.m. Residents can schedule an appointment at no cost by visiting scoutingfortrees.com. Scouts will also take unwanted or broken holiday lights to be recycled. Rushman asks residents wishing to do so to leave them next the tree in a box or bag. For those needing a different option, the City will provide Christmas tree drop-off sites Thursday, December 25, through January 19, 2026, at these locations: - Ballard Park – (3901 North 66th Street) - Holmes Lake Park – (South 70th and Normal streets, parking lot west of north softball field) - Oak Lake Park – (three blocks south of Cornhusker on North First Street) - Tierra Park – (South 29th Street and Tierra Drive) - Seng Park at University Place – (North 50th and Garland streets) - Woods Park – (South 31st and “J” streets, southeast corner of the parking lot) See a map of the drop-off locations at lincoln.ne.gov/TreeRecycling. All decorations, tinsel, lights, skirts, disposal bags and stands must be removed from trees. This is the 39th yea...
