An entire fleet of 24 Tesla cars burned down in a fire at a Tesla store in the South of France last night. The fire is currently under investigation. The fire occurred in the early morning of November 13th in Pennes-Mirabeau, a town outside Marseille in southern France, according to local French newspapers. At around 3 AM, a fire involving several Tesla vehicles was reported at the automaker’s local store (video via Gilles Petras on Facebook): The local fire department responded with as many as 50 firefighters, who managed to get the fire under control within a few hours and prevented it from spreading to the building and vehicles in other parking lots. However, it still resulted in 24 Tesla vehicles burning down. Fire investigators are now looking into the source of the fire, and arson is being seriously considered. It’s not the first large-scale fire at a Tesla store in France. Earlier this year, at the height of anti-Tesla protests, a fire was set at Tesla’s store in Toulouse, resulting in a dozen Tesla vehicles being burned down. Tesla’s sales in Europe have been declining for years, but the decline has been accelerating this year amid more competition and Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, becoming increasingly disliked. Interestingly, the only European market where Tesla is doing well right now is France, thanks to new EV incentives. Davis Polk advised Cipher Mining Inc. on an expansion of its 10-year high-performance computing (HPC) colocation agreement with Fluidstack. Under the modification to the agreement, Cipher will deliver an additional 39 megawatts (MW) of critical IT load, supported by a maximum of 56 MW of additional gross capacity, at its Barber Lake site in Colorado City, Texas. With these newly contracted megawatts, Fluidstack will increase the size of its original transaction and will lease the entire 300 MW of capacity at Cipher’s Barber Lake site. The agreement represents approximately $830 million in contracted revenue over the initial 10-year term and includes two five-year extension options. If exercised, these extension options would bring the total contracted revenue for this transaction to approximately $2 billion and approximately $9 billion in total for the entire lease. In addition, Google will backstop an additional $333 million of Fluidstack’s lease obligations to support project-related debt. Cipher is focused on the development and operation of industrial-scale data centers for bitcoin mining and HPC hosting. Cipher aims to be a market leader in innovation, including in bitcoin mining growth, data center construction and as a hosting partner to the world’s largest HPC companies. Elon Musk announced today that Tesla will enable its electric vehicle owners with (Supervised) Full Self-Driving (FSD) to “text and drive” in “a month or two,” without explaining how they will get around the clear laws that prohibit that. As recently as a few months ago, Musk was again claiming that Tesla would finally deliver its long-promised “unsupervised self-driving” to consumer vehicles by the end of the year – something he has done every year for the last 6 years and never delivered. The latest timeline is less than 2 months away. At Tesla’s shareholders meeting today, Musk updated his timeline – now saying Tesla is a “few months away” from unsupervised FSD – potentially pushing it into 2026. He also added that Tesla is “almost” ready to allow “texting and driving’ on FSD and said he expects Tesla to enable it within “a month or two.” However, the CEO didn’t elaborate on how Tesla plans to enable that. Texting and driving is illegal in most jurisdictions, including the US. There are significant fines and legal penalties if caught. To “allow that”, Tesla would need to take responsibility for the consumer vehicles when FSD is driving, which would mean the previously promised “unsupervised self-driving” or SAE levels 3 to 5 autonomous driving. There are several legal and regulatory steps Tesla must take to make it happen, and so far, there’s no evidence that the automaker has embarked on that journey. So far, Tesla has limited itself to pilot projects with internal fleets to offer ride-hailing services with in-car supervisors where regulations allow. Musk said that Tesla will “look at the data” before allowing texting and driving. Tesla has notoriously never released any relevant data regarding the safety of its autonomous driving features. Colorado awarded nearly $1 million across seven cities to spur construction of accessory dwelling units, the state Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) announced Wednesday. The grants are meant to reduce barriers in ADU construction, which the state has heavily promoted as a method to increase affordable housing units across the state. An ADU is a secondary and usually smaller residential space that shares a lot with a primary home. A 2024 law that went into effect this summer requires many municipalities in the state to allow ADU construction wherever zoning already allows for single-family homes. “Colorado is leading the way on the freedom to build an accessory dwelling unit on your own property, and these grants will cut through red tape to help more Coloradans build and access these opportunities,” Gov. Jared Polis, a Democrat, said in a statement. The grants include from $325,000 for Grand Junction’s ADU production program, $105,000 for a fee waiver program in Larimer County and $37,500 in Longmont for an ADU pre-approved plan update. The second round of ADU grant applications will open in February. “Colorado families and communities are desperate for solutions to help address the housing crisis and build more homes for working Coloradans,” Sen. Kyle Mullica, a Thornton Democrat who sponsored the 2024 law, said in a statement. “These grants will help homeowners build an ADU on their property, making life more affordable and allowing more Coloradans to age in place.” A little over 80% of the municipalities subject to the 2024 law are compliant, according to the governor’s office. Absent: Freke Ette (District 1) Staff: Paul Bockelman (Town Manager) and Athena O’Keeffe (Council Clerk) Amendments to Proposed Accessory Dwelling Unit Bylaw Defeated The change in state law allowing small accessory dwelling units (ADUs) of a maximum of 900 square feet to be built on any residential parcel with enough space meant that Amherst had to revise its ADU bylaw. The resulting change contained the “protected ADU” permitted by the state as well as a “local ADU,” which allows it to be up to 1,200 square feet but requires either the principal dwelling or the ADU to be owner-occupied. The draft of the new bylaw was presented at the October 20, 2025 Town Council meeting. Two amendments were offered at this meeting, but both were defeated. The revised bylaw passed unanimously. The first amendment was suggested by District 4 Councilors Jennifer Taub and Pam Rooney, who wanted to limit the number of additional parking spaces for each ADU built in the General Residence (RG) zone to one, rather than the two spaces allowed in the draft bylaw. Their reason was that parking near the center of town is already limited and new ADUs housing up to four students will result in many more cars parked on the streets and properties there. When architect Rich Hostelley first reviewed the packet for Janice Fleming’s Woodstock property, he didn’t just see dimensions and setbacks; he saw a place with history.
