美国就业状况发生改变

如何找到便宜的租车服务 - How to Find a Cheap Car Rental
I love road trips. You get in car and can just head off anywhere you want. There’s a freedom to a road trip that you can’t get with trains (and, don’t get me wrong, I love train travel too). Small towns, beautiful parks, historic buildings….whatever you see, you can stop for and can stay as little or as long as you’d like! Over the years, I’ve been on dozens of road trips. Some destinations are just meant for them (think New Zealand, Ireland, Iceland, the United States, South Africa, etc, etc.). However, when you don’t have your own car, renting one can be a pain in the ass. No one likes doing it and we all (rightly) worry we’re getting ripped off. There’s always a lot of questions that go with renting a car. Where can I find the best deals? How do I know this cheap car rental site is legit? What are things I should watch out for? And what about insurance? Do I really need that? Or is my credit card’s insurance good enough? In this post, I am going to share my tips and advice to help you find a cheap (but reliable) car rental and how to avoid common pitfalls that many travelers make. Table of Contents Step 1: Join Rental Company Mailing Lists & Loyalty Programs Most rental car companies advertise deals to their subscribers first. As soon as you know that you’re going on a road trip, join the mailing lists of the major car rental company. That way, you can snag any deals on offer as soon as they are announced. To find the main rental car companies in your destination, simply visit the website of the airport you’re arriving at and see what car rental companies are available there. Additionally, like airlines, many car rental companies have loyalty airlines that offer perks like discounts, bonus upgrades, and free rentals. Enterprise, Avis, Alamo, and Hertz are some of the major players on the market that offer free loyalty programs. Sign up for them so you don’t miss out on any perks, offers, or upgrades. Step 2: Search for a Car with Discover Cars While you can certa...

特斯拉 Cybertruck 和 Model 3 项目经理辞职 - Tesla Cybertruck and Model 3 program manager...
Siddhant Awasthi, Tesla’s Program Manager for the Cybertruck and Model 3, has announced his departure after eight years with the company. Starting as an intern, Awasthi played a central role in several of Tesla’s key milestones, from the ramp-up of the Model 3 and Giga Shanghai to the launch of the long-awaited Cybertruck. From intern to program leader In a social media post, Awasthi described leaving Tesla as “one of the hardest decisions” of his life. He credited CEO Elon Musk, Tesla’s leadership team, and his colleagues for helping turn ambitious ideas into tangible vehicles. During his tenure, Awasthi contributed to Tesla’s global expansion and the evolution of its vehicle electronics and wireless systems, culminating in the Cybertruck’s long-anticipated rollout in late 2023. He noted the intensity and innovation of his Tesla years, calling the experience “a thrilling journey” that shaped his career before the age of 30. “It’s been an absolute privilege,” he wrote, adding that working with “rockstar colleagues” made even the most demanding days worthwhile. Tesla’s leadership transitions Awasthi’s departure comes as Tesla continues to scale global operations and prepare for major product updates, including next-gen vehicle platforms and software-driven improvements. Despite stepping away, Awasthi voiced confidence in Tesla’s future. “I’m confident Tesla will nail its next big mission,” he said, highlighting his belief in the company’s capacity to deliver breakthrough products and improve safety for drivers worldwide. “This decision wasn’t easy, especially with so much exciting growth on the horizon. Tesla vehicles are incredibly complex systems that often don’t get the credit they deserve, but I’ve witnessed firsthand how they’ve changed lives—for our customers, my friends, and my family—adding real value and, above all, improving safety. I’m confident Tesla will nail its next big mission (especially after last week), and I’m truly excited for the next chapter of...

特斯拉中国推出Model Y L V2L适配器,早期车主可免费使用 - Tesla China rolls out Model Y L V2L adapter,...
Tesla China has released a useful new accessory for the Model Y L, and it is free for some owners. With the accessory, the Model Y L effectively becomes a giant power bank that owners can use to power appliances when they are camping, or if their homes are hit by a power outage. Tesla Model Y L V2L adapter Tesla China announced the rollout of the Model Y L’s AC external power adapter on social media platforms such as Weibo. As per the product’s advertisement, the Model Y L could provide up to 2,200W of power with its adapter, allowing it to support numerous appliances on the go. Of course, but could also be used to charge devices during power outages. Tesla China notes that the adapter’s current is 220V, and it also features an IP44 protection grade. Tesla notes that the adapter could operate at temperatures between -30℃ ~ +50℃. The Model Y L’s V2L functionality would not work if the vehicle’s battery is less than 10%, however. Tesla China’s official shop is selling its AC external power adapter for a reasonable price. The product could be purchased for RMB599, which is equivalent to $85. That’s a great price for an accessory that could make car camping sessions several times more convenient. Free for early Model Y L owners While the Model Y L’s AC external power adapter is priced reasonably at the Tesla China shop, the accessory is available for free for early owners of the extended wheelbase six-seat all-electric crossover. This was highlighted in a message that Tesla China reportedly sent to owners of the vehicle. “Your Tesla account is eligible for a free Model Y L dedicated AC external power adapter. Please log in to the online store to add the adapter to your cart. Once the system verifies it correctly, the price will automatically change to 0 yuan before placing the order. We will send it to you via express delivery subsequently. “This free qualification is only for the first owner of the Model YL who did not receive an AC external power adapter at pickup, va...

为阵亡退伍军人提供荣誉的早晨 - A morning of honor for the fallen veterans
Chatter and memory flooded the Evergreen Cemetery Saturday morning as over 100 volunteers came together to honor Alachua County’s fallen heroes ahead of Veterans Day. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, college and high school students, families and retired veterans took time to place small American flags beside the graves of local veterans. In addition to more than 1,100 flags, the Evergreen Cemetery Association of Gainesville provided maps of the cemetery and brushes to clean off gravestones. Karen Russ, the 65-year-old cemetery coordinator at Evergreen, has helped run the flag-placing since 2018. Many of her relatives served in the military, inspiring her to organize the community event, which she said was “very personal” for her. “For me to bring our community together and remember every one of our veterans who have served our country, it's heartwarming, it's patriotic, it's such a wonderful tribute,” she said. Volunteers were assigned sections and set off to find veterans’ graves. The morning light and cool breeze guided the slow but intentional footsteps of those acknowledging the men and women who served the country. Lily Chatfield, a 22-year-old working for the Gainesville Police Department, came to pay tribute to her grandfather, Ronald Chatfield, who served in the Vietnam War. The flags carried a deeper meaning for Lily, she said, symbolizing her personal connection to the veterans. “It's hard to think that people actually had boots on the ground, giving their lives up for us and what we have today,” she said. “I think it's easy to forget that and to take advantage of that.” Rows of red, white and blue flags stretched across the cemetery as the volunteers progressed. For some, it was their first time participating in the flag placing. For others, like Starling Johnson, it’s an annual tradition. The 49-year-old Army veteran spent his morning honoring those who served before him for the third year in a row. Johnson served as a paratrooper and said he was proud to see t...

特斯拉 Cybertruck 项目负责人即将离开公司 - Tesla’s head of Cybertruck program is leaving the...
Tesla’s head of the Cybertruck program, Siddhant Awasthi, announced that he is leaving after more than 8 years at the company. Awasthi is a good example of Tesla’s transition into fostering inside leadership rather than outside hiring. For better or worse, over the last 5 years, Tesla has virtually had no significant outside hires into high-level leadership roles. It almost exclusively promotes from within. Awasthi worked on a hyperloop school program, interned at Tesla, and joined the company straight out of school in 2018. Within 2 years, he became an engineering manager. Within 3 years, he was a senior technical program manager in charge of the Cybertruck’s 48-volt architecture. To say that this is unusual at a major company would be an understatement. By late 2022, ahead of Tesla’s planned start of Cybertruck production, he was made head of the electric truck program. He was in charge of the production ramp and future improvements to the electric pickup truck, which has since become a commercial flop. Tesla is having trouble selling 25,000 Cybertrucks per year, despite planning for an annual production capacity of 250,000 trucks. Today, the young engineer announced on X: I recently made one of the hardest decisions of my life to leave Tesla after an incredible run. He tried to “sum up” his career at Tesla in a paragraph: It’s tough to sum up eight years in just a few lines, but what a thrilling journey it’s been: ramping up Model 3, working on Giga Shanghai, developing new electronics and wireless architectures, and delivering the once-in-a-lifetime Cybertruck—all before hitting 30. The icing on the cake was getting to dive back into Model 3 work toward the end. In addition to his duties as Cybertruck program manager, Awasthi was also made in charge of the Model 3 program last summer. Electrek’s Take While I’m using Awasthi as an example of Tesla prioritizing internal promotions rather than attracting outside talent, I’m not blaming the failures of the Cybertruc...

Tesla is launching a crazy new Rental program with cheap daily rates, giving people the opportunity to borrow a vehicle in the company’s lineup with an outrageous number of perks. This week, Tesla launched its in-house Rental program that will give people a vehicle for between three to seven days, with prices varying and starting at just $60 per day. However, there are additional perks that make it a really great deal, including Free Supercharging and Free Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for the duration of the rental. There are no limits on mileage or charging, although the terms do not allow you to leave the state you are renting. Tesla wrote in an email advertising the program: “Rent a Tesla and see how it makes every errand, commute, and road trip more fun. While it’s yours, try Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and control and monitor your vehicle with the Tesla app. Schedule your rental for three to seven days starting at $60 per day (plus taxes and fees) and charge for free at any Tesla-owned Supercharger. Order your own Tesla within seven days of your rental to get up to a $250 credit toward your purchase.” This is a great opportunity that will convince MANY people to make the jump. — TESLARATI (@Teslarati) November 8, 2025 Tesla has long adopted the mentality that butts in seats will sell cars, and for the most part, it is a great strategy. Driving a Tesla is different from owning and driving a combustion engine vehicle; it truly feels as if you are in a car from the past when you get back in an ICE car. This strategy could be looked at as more of a way for people to experience Tesla ownership than anything. Although some might use it as a typical rental program that will see it be a cool way to drive without putting miles on a personal car, most will use it as the 48-hour test drive was designed for, which is a short-term way to experience EV ownership. Tesla is only offering this program at a handful of locations currently, including San Diego and Costa Mesa,...

尽管有“安全监视器”,特斯拉“机器人出租车”仍不断坠毁 - Tesla ‘Robotaxis’ keep crashing despite ‘safety mo...
Based on the latest NHTSA report, Tesla’s ‘Robotaxis’ keep crashing in Austin, Texas, despite ‘safety monitors’ preventing an unknown number of crashes. Under an NHTSA Standing General Order SGO, automakers are required to report crashes involving their autonomous driving (ADS) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) within five days of being notified of them. For years, Tesla was only reporting ADAS crashes, since, despite the names of its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems, they are only considered level 2 driver assistance systems. Since the launch of the Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, where Tesla moved the supervisor from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat, it has now reported its first few crashes under the ADS reporting. In the first month of operation in July, Tesla reported three crashes with its ‘Robotaxi’ service in Austin. This week, NHTSA has updated its crash report and revealed a 4th crash that happened in September: As we previously highlighted, when it comes to both ADS and ADAS crash reporting, Tesla abuses the redacting capacity and hides most information about its crashes, unlike most of its competitors. Therefore, we don’t have much information about this new crash, but it reportedly occurred in a parking lot and involved a Tesla Robotaxi crashing into a “fixed object,” resulting in property damage. What’s most interesting about this crash is that it comes as Tesla released the first bit of data about its Robotaxi program in Austin. During its earnings call last week, Tesla confirmed that the Robotaxi fleet has traveled 250,000 miles since its launch in late June. Therefore, Tesla Robotaxi currently crashes at a rate of about once every 62,500 miles. That’s with a safety monitor with a finger on a kill switch, ready to stop the vehicle at all times. We have no data on how often Tesla’s safety monitors prevent crashes in its robotaxis. For comparison, the NHTSA report lists 1,267 crashes involving Waymo vehicles. However, Waymo...

通过情境旅行穿越巴黎的历史之旅 - Taking a Historical Walk Through Paris with Context Travel
I love walking tours. Long time readers know I always recommend doing them first thing when you’re in a city. It doesn’t matter the type you do. Food, history, art – whatever! Just do something. They’re an incredible way to learn about a destination, get your bearings, and talk to a local about life in the city. (Plus, you can ask your local guidefor tips on restaurants, attractions, or how to navigate the city! Win-win!) I’ve been taking walking tours since my first backpacking trip in 2006 when I joined a hostel’s free walking tour around Prague. I was hooked and, over the years, I’ve taken hundreds upon hundreds of tours run by dozens upon dozens of companies. There are tons of walking tour companies out there, but one of my favorites is Context Travel. Context was founded in 2003 and I’ve been using and recommending them since 2010 when I first stumbled across one of their tours in Rome. I walked with an art historian around the Vatican, where I not only learned about the Vatican itself, but the stories behind the art. Since then, I’ve done countless tours with them. What has always set Context apart is that rather than use regular people trained as guides, they use experts (those with MA- or PhD-level degrees!) in their fields to lead you around. This way, you get someone who really knows what they are talking about. You get someone who can share the little details that only an expert in their field would know. During a recent trip to Paris, I did Context’s Paris WWII History Tour. Now, I know a lot about Paris. I’ve been visiting for 15 years, lived there for a short period, have probably done over 50 tours there, and have read so many books on the city that I sometimes feel like I’m studying for a degree in Paris history. But my interest in the city is primarily based around the 1920s (I love the Jazz Age!) and medieval times. I don’t know a lot about World War II Paris. Sure, I know some things from my general studies, but I don’t know a lot of specific know...
