Rec center fees, ADUs and Heavenly parking: city council updates SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On Tuesday, city council spent a lengthy meeting tackling items on the agenda that had been delayed, such as the rec center fees, accessory dwelling unit (ADU) plans, street parking for Heavenly and more. It also marked Cody Bass’s first official meeting for this term as mayor after he was appointed to fill the position at the last meeting. Proclamations and city commission reports City council officially proclaimed October 2025 as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which was received by Vista Rise Collective, and National Pet Wellness Awareness Month, which was received by the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. Public comment The California Department of Fish and Wildlife was scheduled to speak at city council at the previous meeting, but pushed off the meeting to December. Reportedly, the city’s contact at the department is off for the month of November. Leona Allen, the District 5 representative for the El Dorado County Fish and Wildlife Commission, spoke on behalf of the commission. She spoke about the need for the city to address the Campground ...

圣卢克神社在当地童子军之鹰项目下成形 - Akron.com - Shrine of St. Luke takes shape under local Scou...
GREEN — This past July, on an 84-degree morning, eight adults and Boy Scouts of Troop 334 gathered in the woods on the grounds of Queen of Heaven Church to begin work on the St. Luke Shrine. The project was under the supervision of Boy Scout Luke Moorhead, toward his Eagle Scout designation. Moorhead, who first became a Cub Scout at age 7, is now 15 and a sophomore at Lake High School, where he is on the soccer team and plays percussion in the marching band. He is the son of Brandy and Mark and, with one sister and four brothers, will become the fourth Eagle Scout in his family. After several meetings about plans for work on the shrine with Pastor (and Eagle Scout) David Durkee, the date and area were selected. Durkee pre-cleared the wooded section to make way for the concrete pad and walkway. The shrine area is at the top of the hill behind the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, opposite the path to the Divine Mercy Chapel in the Woods and before the St. Teresa of Avila Shrine. With the end slightly curved outward, the concrete pad and shrine walkway measures 43 feet long with a 10-foot-wide circular section at the end of the path that extends about 10 inches wider on each side of the circled area. The shrine area was cleared of weeds and brush on all sides. On the right side of the circled area, there is an elevated section of ground. It measures 8 feet wide at ground level and is covered with layers of soft tan flat quarry rock to 11 inches high. Behind that, the ground is covered with light gray limestone. In its center is the concrete block on which the statue rests. On either side of the pathway, five spaced holes were drilled into the ground with an auger to a depth of 3 feet. Five posts were placed in the holes onto which five signs were attached. Each is a flat piece of Polywood with a polycarbonite roof onto which one of the joyful mysteries from St. Luke’s gospel is attached. Pea gravel was placed into the holes of the posts, then light gray limeston...

库纳特植物园、安多佛打谷场受益于最近的 Eagle Scout 项目 - Kuhnert Arboretum, Andover Threshing Ground...
Aberdeen residents who took advantage of pleasant weather this summer might have noticed some new blooms in Kuhnert Arboretum on South Dakota Street. In May, Aberdeen Boy Scout Connor Orr directed his troop in planting 350 native perennial flowering plants to expand an existing plot of pollinator flowers. He chose the project after learning about pollinators from his science teacher. The project was completed as part of the process for Orr to become an Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting America. He said the group planted seeds with different bloom times so there would always be a plant in bloom from which pollinators like bees could feed. “It was really amazing to see everyone come together and work as a team. They all had great attitudes and got an incredible amount of work done in just one day,” Orr said. He thanked those who helped him with the project, including the city; South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks; Brown County Conservation District; and business sponsors. Two others earn Eagle Scout honors Two other Aberdeen Eagle Scouts finished their projects last year. Eli Bruns’ project included building a sandbox with a sheetmetal roof children can play in at Thresherman’s Park in Andover. He said he chose the project after discussing it with his scoutmaster, Bryan Rau. Bruns said that when he was young he enjoyed going to the annual James Valley Threshing Show with his great-grandfather. He said he wanted to create something kids could use. “I like going to see how it’s been in use since it’s been completed,” Bruns said, who finished the project in August 2024. Mykah Hjermstad also completed his Eagle Scout project last year. Rau said Hjermstad built four waist-high plant holders that allow people who can’t kneel or bend over to grow plants like tomatoes. He said about 20 scouts helped build the wooden 2-by-5-foot planters. All three scouts are members of Troop 188 in Aberdeen. Rau is the scoutmaster.

Tesla MultiPass 在欧洲扩展,可轻松使用非 Tesla 充电器 - Tesla MultiPass in Europe expands, allo...
The Tesla MultiPass program in Europe is expanding to new countries. The program was launched earlier this year to assist Tesla owners in having an easier charging experience at non-Tesla EV chargers. In September, Tesla launched the MultiPass program to owners in the Netherlands, which aimed to enable charging for Tesla owners at third-party stations using the app or keycard. It was developed to avoid having to use multiple apps for each charging manufacturer. Both access and payment would be performed through the Tesla app, streamlining the entire process. Today, Tesla expanded the program to Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Belgium, building on its initial rollout and partnering with companies like Fastned to improve EV roaming coverage across the continent. MultiPass is expanding in Europe. Your Tesla App and your Tesla keycard can start charging at third-party chargers in these countries. We’re grateful to customers flagging any issues in the Tesla App. Payment success rate and coverage will continuously improve. https://t.co/1sr0OgdwLI — Max (@MdeZegher) November 5, 2025 The program is still in its early stages, and it appears to have some issues, which were highlighted by owners. Some state that the different designs between chargers can create a bit of a hassle, especially as some do not properly display charging rates and inconsistent pricing displays. Additionally, Tesla’s Trip Planner and other route planner integrations are not as descriptive as they should be, so some owners suggested reliability and visibility improvements. Tesla partnered with Electrify America, Rivian’s Adventure Network, and other networks to expand charging availability and make options more readily available. Tesla’s Supercharger presence in Europe has expanded quite a bit over the past few years, but EVs are much more prevalent there than they are here in the U.S. The company has done a great job of growing the Supercharger presence this year, and there are curren...

美国童子军授予威尔莫斯杰出公民称号 - Scouting America Honors Wilmoth As Distinguished Citizen
Scouting America Honors Wilmoth As Distinguished Citizen For the vast majority of his life since age 7, scouting has been a significant part of attorney Bill Wilmoth’s life – as a scout, as an assistant scoutmaster and as a board member of both the Mountaineer Area and Ohio River Valley councils. The former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia credits scouting for the person he is today. Scouting America will honor Wilmoth’s dedication and contributions to the organization Thursday evening, when he will receive its Distinguished Citizen Award at a dinner at Wheeling Park’s White Palace. Wilmoth, now a member of the firm Steptoe & Johnson, said he’s incredibly honored to receive the award, which recognizes outstanding individuals for their dedication to youth, community service and the values of scouting. Yet he looks at his service to scouting as a calling he has cherished throughout his life. “I never really thought about being honored,” he said. “I was just doing something I thought was important.” Wilmoth said his love for the outdoors got him into scouting as a child, but he soon realized it meant so much more to him. “Lots of my friends joined at the same time,” he said, “so it just became a way of building friendships. And though I didn’t know it at the time,it was a way of sort of building my personal credo as an adult.” He continued his relationship with Boy Scouts of America, now called Scouting America, into adulthood. As an assistant scoutmaster, he watched sons Sam and Pete achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. As a member of the board of directors of the Ohio River Valley Council and serving as its legal counsel, he was integral in the merger of the Ohio River Valley and Mountaineer Area councils into one. “Scouting America had been pushing smaller councils to merge so that they can all survive,” Wilmoth said. “The two old councils had touched each other, and were a natural candidate for getting together two strong, small councils to beco...

The Rules, Confirmations & Public Elections Committee on Nov. 4 voted to accept the late-file nature of an ordinance by Council Member Johnston that would amend chapters 17.36 and 17.4 of the Metropolitan Code to create a detached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) exclusion overlay district (proposal 2025ZTX001). The sponsor said the late filing was to allow the ordinance to track on second reading with a bill seeking to substitute the measure. After brief questions from committee members about timing and purpose, the committee voted to accept the item as a late file; the recorded tally was 6–0–0. The committee’s action only approved late-file status so the ordinance can proceed to subsequent readings and committee or floor consideration as provided by Metro procedure.

对数据中心的渴望给房地产投资者带来了碳困境 - MSCI - Desire for Data Centers Creates Carbon Dilemma fo...
- Data-center properties under construction globally have an estimated value of USD 550 billion, more than five times the value of assets investors have acquired since 2007, underscoring the market's exponential growth. - While major operators and owners have set climate targets, data centers remain closely linked to rising carbon footprints. Ireland and the U.S. may face the steepest rise in emissions tied to properties under construction. - A shift to data centers in property portfolios creates a dilemma for institutional investors who have committed to sustainability goals and may need to reconcile such commitments with the global digital transformation. Technology companies, real-estate and infrastructure investors are pumping billions of dollars into the construction of data centers to meet soaring demand from AI and cloud computing. Data centers are among the most energy- and carbon-intensive assets in the digital economy and many operators are turning to renewable energy to help lower their emissions. Yet the industry’s rapid expansion still carries a significant carbon footprint, especially when the actual electricity mix in local grids is taken into account.1 The growing carbon footprint matters for the real-estate industry. Data centers were the number-one target for property investors in 2025 according to the Urban Land Institute/PwC Emerging Trends in Real Estate report.2 With the continued growth in carbon emissions from data-center assets, investors face a mounting challenge: How to align long-term climate commitments with exposure to a rapidly expanding, energy-intensive asset class that could raise both portfolio-emissions intensity and the cost of meeting decarbonization targets. Major institutional investors such as Brookfield Asset Management, The Goldman Sachs Group Inc., AXA S.A., CBRE Investment Management and Invesco Ltd. — all of whom rank among the top 20 global buyers of real estate — have committed to align their portfolios with global cli...

Property owners who want to add an accessory dwelling unit can get free designs that meet all code requirements By Brandon Goldman The city of Ashland is making it easier than ever for property owners to add an accessory dwelling unit, or ADU, to their residentially zoned property. The city now offers seven free, pre-approved ADU designs that meet all local building code requirements, saving time and simplifying the permitting process. By streamlining ADU development, Ashland aims to expand housing options, promote affordability and meet the diverse needs of its residents. ADUs within Ashland’s single-family zones are not permitted for use as travelers’ accommodations, ensuring that these units serve as much-needed housing for full-time residents. These initiatives reflect the city’s ongoing commitment to sustainable, inclusive growth and to maintaining the character of Ashland’s neighborhoods. Brandon Goldman is the director of Community Development for Ashland. Email letters to the editor and Viewpoint submissions to news@ashland.news.

亚利桑那州 ADU 的每个房间都能欣赏到索诺兰沙漠的新景观 - Dwell - Every Room of This Arizona ADU Captures ...
Houses We Love: Every day we feature a remarkable space submitted by our community of architects, designers, builders, and homeowners. Have one to share? Post it here. Project Details: Location: Tucson, Arizona Structural Engineer: Harris Engineering Services Cabinetry Design: Hamilton Design From the Architect: "Casita Obscura is a detached 750-square-foot stand-alone component of a three-phase transformation of a 2,400-square-foot midcentury home. The transformation started as a renovation that took the original home back to its bones to reveal affinities between old and new, and inside and outside, through light, material, and attention to detail. Conceived as a bold yet discrete amenity, Casita Obscura enhances the connection of the original home to its Sonoran Desert setting. It is both a backdrop and a retreat, foregrounding the surrounding landscape and vegetation and underlining the distant horizon. "Taking its name from the Latin ‘camera obscura’ (meaning dark chamber), Casita Obscura is a lens on the desert. In contrast to the cinematic experience of the main house, with its floor-to-ceiling glass, open floor plan, and panoramic views, Casita Obscura is divided into three distinct spaces: a room for sleeping, a room for bathing, and a room for living. Each of these rooms has a specific aperture to the world: the room for sleeping is focused on the intimacy of the desert foothills and the Catalina Mountains, the room for bathing is defined by a triangular portal to the sky, while the room for living frames a view to the city of Tucson and the distant Santa Rita mountains. "Clad in dark gray, low-cost, cement-board panels that blend into the shadow play of the desert vegetation, and with a roof that slopes away from the main home, the form of Casita Obscura is disguised, reading as a simple, planar facade. Defined by the rhythms of the cement board modules, this west elevation is marked by a solitary, penetrating opening. Angled from most vantage points, upo...

Newsmax 被 AI 视频愚弄,将整个片段播放得如同真实一样 - 未来主义 - Newsmax Gets Fooled by AI Video, Broad...
Believe it or not, another right wing news network got fooled by obvious AI slop designed to denigrate poor people who can’t get food because their food stamps are on hold. On October 30, Newsmax — the TV network for people who think Fox News is too liberal, basically — aired an AI-generated video purportedly showing a woman raging at a supermarket cashier, threatening to walk out with her haul of groceries without paying because “they cut her food stamps.” The video is fake. And it’s the same one that the actual Fox presented as genuine in an article it ran to drum up outrage over the perceived abuses of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, which provides vital food assistance to nearly one in eight Americans every month and has been a long target of the right — and is now under more pressure than ever amid a lengthy government shutdown that’s leaving it short of the money it needs to feed people. It’s an alarming example of how ubiquitous AI tech is being used to deepfake our reality and spread misinformation — and a preview of its potential to be abused to attack political foes. Newsmax used the fifteen second AI clip in a recent segment called “The Cost of Free Stuff,” in which news anchor Carl Higbie bashes the “entitlement” of SNAP beneficiaries — all of whom live near or below the poverty line, and many of whom are also children, elderly, or disabled. “Perhaps that person is in that position because of their own decisions and should make better life choices,” says Higbie of the millions of people who are now uncertain if they’ll be able to feed themselves or their family. “I think the government shutdown has woken people up to this entitlement and abuse.” Higbie then pivots to making fun of SNAP recipients for their weight, which is when the AI video is played. Meanwhile, the chyron reads: “We Are Only Nation Where Poor People Are Obese.” Higbie even projects his own idea about the life of the woman in the video, who is AI-generated. “By fe...

鹰童子军为前童子军领袖建立纪念碑| - Eagle Scout builds memorial for former scout leader | News |...
It still feels like yesterday when Sandra Gruber took some headshots of her dad. He had been selected for a hall of fame. The picture was for the award presentation. It was a warm, summer day for Gruber, her father, Art Anderson, and their family. The year was 2009. “It was fun,” she said. “I’ll always treasure that shoot.” Anderson was a scoutmaster with Scouting America, formerly known as Boy Scouts. He was a mentor to many. “That was his thing,” said Janice Levitan, one of Anderson’s daughters. “The Scouting program and Scouting ideas always ran true to him. It was an easy place to mentor.” Anderson was murdered in 2011 while leading two Boy Scouts and another adult on a hike on the Nickel Plate Trail. Anderson was 76. The murder happened in Bunker Hill. Police called the killing random and senseless. Shane Golitko said he killed Anderson during a schizophrenic episode after he stopped taking his medication. He later pleaded guilty to murder. The court deemed him mentally ill as he was diagnosed multiple times as a paranoid schizophrenic. He is serving 45 years in prison. The site of the murder has sat empty for years besides for a gravel parking lot. But not anymore. Now, those who park in Bunker Hill to hike the trail will be reminded of the impact Anderson had on Boy Scouts throughout his life, thanks to Aiden Schwartz. The 15-year-old built a memorial in honor of Anderson for his Eagle Scout project. The concrete memorial features a mosaic compass in the middle, a bench and placard titled “Tribute to a Fallen Leader,” about Anderson. “I thought it was pretty special to go and do that,” Aiden said. Aiden is part of Troop 581 in Galveston. The homeschooled teen, who lives near Burlington, has been in Scouts for 10 years. “I love camping and camping out,” he said. “I’ve made a lot of friends through Scouting.” The Scout pitched his project to the Sagamore Council, which oversees troops from Lafayette to Marion, after Anderson’s family gave their approval. Aiden ...
